Cristian Molinaro (born July 30, 1983 in Moio della Civitella (SA) ) is an Italian football player .
He is a left full-back but can also be used in midfield and has been playing for Frosinone Calcio since July 2018 . Molinaro's strengths are his speed as well as his strength in duels and his contributions to the offensive game through flanks and passes.
Career
society
He started playing football at the ASD Gelbison Vallo della Lucania when he was five. He left home at the age of thirteen and moved to Salerno , where he stayed with a host family. He wanted that in order to be able to better combine school and football. In the 2002/03 season he was pulled up from Salernitana Calcio to the professionals and made his first games in Serie B. In the following two seasons he was a regular at Salernitana.
In 2005, Molinaro was signed by Juventus Turin , who decided, like some other players, to "park" him for the time being with AC Siena and sold half of his transfer rights to the Tuscan club. The 2005/06 season was marked by ups and downs for Cristian Molinaro. He was mostly just a substitute player, as the club was already well filled with the experienced Gianluca Falsini in his position.
For the 2006/07 season , the transfer business between was Juve that because of the manipulation scandal 2005/06 in the Serie B relegated had, and Siena extended by one year. The AC Siena in turn sold Falsini to Catania Calcio and relied on Molinaro as a regular on the left defensive side. Encouraged by the trust placed in him, Cristian Molinaro developed into an absolute top performer and completed 36 of the 38 Serie A games.
Juventus finally decided to get Molinaro back and signed him on June 20, 2007 for 2.5 million euros. During the 2007/08 season , the southern Italian became a regular on the left in the Juve back four . This was mainly due to the fact that the regular left-back Giorgio Chiellini , due to numerous injuries to the two central defenders, was used in the headquarters. By signing the national player Fabio Grosso for the 2009/10 season , Molinaro lost his regular place on the left and found himself mainly on the bench.
On January 5, 2010, he moved to VfB Stuttgart on loan . There he replaced Ludovic Magnin , who had switched to FC Zurich during the winter break, and Arthur Boka, who was nominated for the 2010 African Cup of Nations . VfB was able to bind Molinaro to the club in the long term with a purchase option. After VfB took this option, Molinaro signed a contract with Stuttgart until June 2014. As part of a football scandal in 2013 about transfer contracts, Cristian Molinaro's contracts were later examined for irregularities.
In the first series of the 2013/14 season, Molinaro only made two appearances for the Swabians, which prompted him to go back to Italy at the end of January 2014 and sign a contract with FC Parma there. After only half a year, Molinaro moved to Turin FC .
National team
On August 6, 2010, Molinaro was appointed to the squad of the Italian senior team for the international match against Ivory Coast on August 10, 2010. There he made his international debut in the starting line-up. On September 3, 2010, Molinaro played in his competitive debut for the Squadra Azzurra on the first day of qualifying for the European Championship 2012 against Estonia also over the full game distance.
