Arthur Étienne Boka (born April 2, 1983 in Abidjan ) is a former Ivorian football player .
The defender has been without a club since February 2017. He is a regular player in the national team of his home country and was also used at the African Championships in 2006 , 2008 , 2010 , 2012 and the World Cup in 2006 , 2010 and 2014 .
Because of the way he plays Arthur Boka is often referred to as the "African Roberto Carlos ".
Career
society
Arthur Boka started his career in the Ivorian football school of ASEC Mimosas . In 2002 he moved to Belgium for KSK Beveren and in 2004 - initially on loan - to Racing Strasbourg in the first French league .
On August 31, 2006, he moved to the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart . For VfB Stuttgart, he played 68 Bundesliga games by the end of the 2009/10 season and scored one goal. In 2007 he became German soccer champion with VfB . On January 14, 2009, Boka prematurely extended his contract with VfB until June 2012.
On May 30, 2012 Arthur Boka signed a new contract that initially tied him to VfB Stuttgart until June 2013 and automatically extended for a further year after reaching a set number of competitive appearances in the 2012/13 season. After VfB Stuttgart announced that it would not renew his contract, Boka announced his move to Spanish club Málaga on April 27, 2014 . In July 2016, FC Sion announced the commitment of Boka. His contract was terminated on February 18, 2017.
National team
He made his national team debut on March 31, 2004 against Tunisia . He was used at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and played a part in the 3-2 win against Serbia and Montenegro . Nevertheless, the Ivory Coast was eliminated. He was also used for his team at the 2010 World Cup and failed again in the preliminary round with Ivory Coast.
Private
Boka was in a relationship with the German model Gina-Lisa Lohfink from August 2010 to June 2011 . He lived during his Stuttgart engagements in Stuttgart- Zuffenhausen and later in Pleidelsheim ( district of Ludwigsburg ).
