Henry Chukwuemeka Onyekuru (born June 5, 1997 in Onitsha ) is a Nigerian football player . Onyekuru has been under contract with AS Monaco since 2019 . Onyekuru was loaned to Galatasaray Istanbul for the second half of the 2019/20 season.
Club career
Henry Onyekuru started playing soccer at Aspire Academy . There, in addition to his football training, he was given a school education. After five years at the academy, he made the move to Europe to the Belgian club KAS Eupen . The Aspire Academy and KAS Eupen have a partnership which made his transfer possible. In his first season for Eupen Onyekuru came to 19 league appearances and scored six goals. In the following season there were 38 league games and 22 goals. With this number of goals, the Nigerian and Łukasz Teodorczyk from RSC Anderlecht were the top scorer of the 2016/17 season.
Before the 2017/18 season, Everton signed him for a transfer fee of 7 million pounds and was loaned directly to RSC Anderlecht. Onyekuru played 19 league games in Anderlecht and scored nine goals. In the summer of 2018 Onyekuru went to Galatasaray Istanbul on loan. With Galatasaray Onyekuru won the Turkish championship and was also a cup winner. The winger scored 14 goals in 31 league games.
In the summer of 2019 Onyekuru then moved to the French first division club AS Monaco . In the first half of the 2019/20 season Onyekuru made four appearances in the French league. In January 2020, the winger was loaned to Galatasaray Istanbul for the second time. The yellow-reds paid a rental fee of 750,000 euros.
