The June 11th Stadium ( Arabic ملعب 11 يونيو) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Libyan capital Tripoli .
history
The two Libyan football first division clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahly Tripolis play their home games in this stadium. It is the home stadium of the Libyan national football team . The stadium was opened in 1982. The stadium holds 67,000 spectators, making it the largest in Libya and one of the largest in Africa .
The facility was named after June 11, 1967, when the United States Armed Forces abandoned their military bases in Libya and left the country on that day.
The sports facility was the venue for nine games of the 1982 African Cup of Nations , including the final. In 2002 the final of the Italian Supercup between Juventus Turin and AC Parma was held in this stadium, which Juventus won 2-1.
