Stefan de Vrij (pronunciation: [ 'stefan də'v̊rɛ͡ı ]; born February 5, 1992 in Gouda , South Holland ) is a Dutch football player who is primarily used in the position of central defender .

Career

He played in the Eredivisie for Feyenoord Rotterdam since the 2009/10 season , scoring seven goals in 135 games. In 2014 he moved to Lazio Rome . The Romans paid 7 million euros for him. He made his Serie A debut on August 31, 2014 in a 3-1 away defeat by AC Milan . At the beginning of July 2018, he joined Inter Milan with a contract until 2023 .

Since August 2012, de Vrij has also been a national player. Bondscoach Louis van Gaal brought him into the squad after the Euro 2012 and made his debut on August 15, 2012 in the friendly against Belgium . De Vrij came on as a substitute in the 4-2 defeat after half-time. Eventually he was nominated for the 2014 World Cup .
