Matías Vecino , full name Matías Vecino Falero , (born August 24, 1991 in San Jacinto , Canelones Department ) is a Uruguayan football player . He has been under contract with Inter Milan since 2017 .

The large depending on the source location 1.87 meters or 1.89 meters midfielder Vecino was the beginning of his career at least from the Clausura 2010 to the Clausura 2011 in the squad of the Uruguayan first division Central Español . During this period he completed 32 games in the Primera División and scored two goals. From Apertura 2011 up to and including Apertura 2012 he was active for Nacional Montevideo . There, his record shows 18 league games and four league goals, as well as two games (no goal) of the Copa Libertadores . In the 2011/12 season he was Uruguayan champion with his teammates. In November 2012 he signed a four-year contract with Fiorentina . Due to pass problems, however, his actual engagement with the Italians was delayed, so that he initially only trained there in the second half of the season. In Italy he made his debut on September 26, 2013 in the encounter with Inter Milan , when he came on in the 78th minute for Alberto Aquilani . Until his last appearance on the 14th matchday, he played a total of six league games for the Fiorentina. At the end of January 2014, Vecino moved on loan to league rivals Cagliari Calcio . There he made his debut on February 1, 2014 in the game against his previous employer with a substitution for his compatriot Matías Cabrera in the 71st minute of the game. By the end of the 2013/14 season , he ran in nine league encounters for Cagliari and scored two goals.

In August 2014, Vecinos was announced on loan to FC Empoli . For the first time he was set up at Empoli on August 31, 2014 against Udinese Calcio in Serie A. He made a total of 36 league games (two goals) at the club from Tuscany in the 2014/15 season. He was also used in two games (no goal) of the Coppa Italia. He then returned to Fiorentina for the 2015/16 season, for which he played in 30 other first division games (two goals) and seven games (no goal) in the Europa League by the end of the season. Also in the following season 2016/17 he was active for the Florentines and played 31 league games (three goals) and seven games (one goal) in the Europa League.

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, Vecino moved to Inter Milan. He made his debut for Inter on August 20, 2017, when the Milanese beat Fiorentina 3-0 . He scored his first goal a week later against AS Roma . He scored the goal to make it 3-1. With the Northern Italians he became an absolute regular player, but has so far been plagued by several minor injuries. Before the corona pandemic , he made eight goals in 77 league games.

National team

Vecino took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection in the 2011 U-20 South American Championship . He also took part in the U-20 World Cup that year. While he played eight games at the South American Championship and scored one goal, he was only set up in three games at the World Cup. Vecino was also part of the U-23 squad set up by national coach Óscar Tabárez in the run-up to the 2012 Summer Olympics . On March 26, 2016, Vecino made his debut for the senior team in a 2-2 draw against Brazil . For the Uruguayans, he participated in tournaments such as the Copa America 2016 , the Football World Cup 2018 and the Copa America 2019 . It was used there in almost every game.
