He is a native of Brazil, but also has Italian citizenship .

Career

In the club

The midfielder Mancini, who also works as a winger (see below), comes from the youth department of Atlético Mineiro , where he made the leap into the professional squad in 1998. In 2000 he moved to São Paulo and signed a contract with Portuguesa São Paulo . He stayed here until 2001 and then returned to his home club.

In the summer of 2002 Mancini made the leap to Europe . He signed a contract with SSC Venice . There the scouts of AS Roma became aware of the offensive all-rounder. For the 2003/04 season, Mancini moved to Roma , where he became a regular and top performer. In 2007 and 2008 he won the Coppa Italia with the capitals. In the previous two years you had to bow in the final. In the league, the team was only runner-up four times (2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008). You always had to let one of the two Milanese clubs go ahead. At the Supercoppa Italiana 2007 they won the cup against Inter Milan in the final.

Mancini in action for Inter (2009)

In the summer of 2008, Mancini moved to Inter Milan for 13 million euros . He signed a four-year contract with the traditional Italian club. On February 1, 2010, his move on loan to city rivals AC Milan was announced. In addition, a purchase option was agreed on the midfield player. After the option of a permanent commitment was not taken, he returned to Inter.

On January 12th, Inter announced the move from Mancini to Atlético Mineiro on their homepage .

In the national team

Despite consistently good performances, Mancini was rarely called up to the Seleção . Also Dunga , the many different players, including those from Eastern European leagues, gave a chance to prove himself in the national team, it had not taken into account, which caused a lack of understanding by many Italian fans. In 2004 Mancini won the Copa America with the Brazilian national team . For the World Cup qualification matches on October 12 and 15, 2008 against Venezuela and Colombia, he was called back to the national team thanks to his consistently good performance. However, he did not take part in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Style of play

Mancini is a very versatile player. His original position is right midfield , but he is sometimes also used as a right defender or winger . Mancini is a very tricky player. His step-overs are lightning fast and he's not afraid to do ten of them in a row.
