Claudio Marchisio (born January 19, 1986 in Turin ) is a former Italian football player . The midfielder won the Italian championship seven times and the national cup four times with Juventus Turin . He also played 55 international matches for Italy between 2009 and 2017 .
Career
society
Claudio Marchisio began his career in the youth department of Juventus Turin, which he went through to Primavera , and with which he won both the Campionato Primavera and the prestigious Torneo di Viareggio and was an outstanding player.
For the 2005/06 season Claudio Marchisio was appointed to the professional team for the first time by the then coach Fabio Capello and completed the entire season preparation with the first team, but there was not yet a use with the professionals. For the 2006/07 season he finally moved up to the first team of Juve . His coach Didier Deschamps continued after the demotion because of the football scandal 2005/06 in the Serie B more on young players. Marchisio played a total of 25 games and managed direct resurgence with Juventus.
After some high-profile midfielders, such as Tiago and Sergio Bernardo Almirón , were signed to Marchisio's position in the summer of 2007 , Juve decided to loan him to Serie A rivals FC Empoli . There he played regularly and gained experience in Italy's top division in 26 missions.
For the 2008/09 season Claudio Marchisio returned to Juventus Turin. On January 24th, 2009 he scored his first goal in Serie A in a 1-0 home win against Fiorentina . In the following years he became a top performer at Juve and won his first Italian championship title in 2011/12 under coach Antonio Conte . Marchisio formed the central midfield axis together with Andrea Pirlo and, with nine goals in 36 games, had a significant share in the undefeated Scudetto win.
On April 17, 2016, Marchisio put in the league match between Juventus and Palermo a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in the left knee and about fell out of six months. As a result, the midfielder not only missed the rest of the season, but also the 2016 European Championship . On August 17, 2018, Juventus and Marchisio terminated his contract.
National team
Claudio Marchisio completed his first international junior match for the Italian U-20s on September 13, 2006 against the Swiss U-20s. He has been a member of the Italian U-21 national team since 2007 . In 2008, the midfielder won the Toulon tournament with the Italian U-23s and competed with the Olympic selection at the football tournament in Beijing . Because of a muscle injury he suffered in the game against Honduras , Marchisio's Olympic Games were over after the second game.
On August 12, 2009 Claudio Marchisio made his debut under Marcello Lippi in a 0-0 friendly match against Switzerland in Basel in the Italian national team . At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , Marchisio was a regular under coach Marcello Lippi. However, this tournament was a disaster for the reigning world champion and Italy was eliminated in the preliminary round. He contributed one goal to Italy's qualification for the European Football Championship 2012 in Poland and Ukraine . Marchisio was also a regular at the tournament. Italy reached the final and lost there to defending champions Spain .
At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil , Marchisio was again a regular under Prandelli. He scored the 1-0 in the first group game against England (final result 2-1). Italy started with a win but then lost to the underdogs from Costa Rica . In the last group game, the decision had to be made between Italy and Uruguay , with Italy drawing enough. Marchisio was sent off in the 59th minute of this game and Uruguay scored the winning goal in the 81st, which meant that Italy were eliminated from the World Cup after the preliminary round.
After the World Cup, Marchisio continued to be an integral part of the national team until the end of 2015. In the following years , however, numerous injuries ensured that he could no longer appear for the Squadr Azzurra . He only played a game for Italy again in June, but had to be replaced with an injury in the friendly against Uruguay . Then Marchisio was irregular in the squad, but remained without use. He received his last nomination in May 2018, but has not been considered since then.
