Dan Martin Nataniel Dahlin (born April 16, 1968 in Uddevalla ) is a former Swedish football player . His father is from Venezuela , his mother from Sweden .

Career

Dahlin played for the Swedish national team when they finished third at the 1994 World Cup . Dahlin scored four goals in this tournament. At the European Championships in 1992 in his own country, he and his team made it to the semi-finals. He also took part in the 1988 Olympic Games with the Swedish selection .

In 1993 he was voted Swedish Player of the Year. He played for Malmö FF , Borussia Mönchengladbach , AS Roma , Blackburn Rovers and Hamburger SV .

His resemblance to the American football player OJ Simpson gave him the nickname "OJ" during the World Cup in the USA.

With Borussia Mönchengladbach, for whom he scored 60 goals in 125 games, he became the German Cup winner in 1995. In 1996 he moved to AS Roma, but returned a short time later to Mönchengladbach and became the most successful striker of the second half of the 1996/97 season with 10 goals. In 1997 he moved to the Blackburn Rovers, where he had to end the season prematurely due to an injury in a training game. After moving to Hamburger SV, Dahlin only made a few appearances at the end of 1998 and then ended his career.

After the career

Today Martin Dahlin works as a player agent for several Swedish national players, including Markus Rosenberg . Dahlin lives in Monaco.
