Gosta Löfgren

Karl Gösta Herbert "Lövet" Löfgren (born August 29, 1923 in Motala ; † September 5, 2006 ibid) was a Swedish football player .

career

Löfgren's biography is among the most interesting in Swedish football. The Motala AIF player made his debut for the Swedish national team in 1951 , but was only able to make his first division debut in 1957. Nevertheless, he was part of the team at the 1952 Olympic Games , which won the bronze medal through a success over Germany . In 1955, the second division player was even awarded the Guldbollen as Sweden's footballer of the year. He also took part in the 1958 World Cup and this time he was able to celebrate the silver medal. The guest appearance of his club in the Allsvenskan lasted only a year and Löfgren then joined IFK Norrköping , where he celebrated three championship titles. In 1961 he ended his international career after 40 internationals and 12 goals, in 1963 his active career.
