Karl Bertil Emanuel Nordahl (born July 26, 1917 in Hörnefors , † December 1, 1998 in Degerfors ) was a Swedish football player .

Life

Nordahl came from a family of footballers. His younger brothers Knut , Gunnar and the twins Gösta and Göran also played in the highest Swedish league, some of them abroad.

In 1948, Bertil Nordahl was awarded the Guldbollen as Sweden's Footballer of the Year , after his brother Gunnar had received the award the year before. Knut Nordahl became his successor in 1949.

Club career

Nordahl began his career in his hometown at Hörnefors IF . There they became aware of the technically gifted player and in 1942 he moved to Degerfors IF . In 1949 he went to Italy to Atalanta Bergamo . In 1952 he returned to Sweden to Degerfors IF, where he also ended his career.

National team

In 1945 Nordahl made his debut in the Swedish national team . In 1948 he participated with the selection in the Olympic Games and won the gold medal with the team. His brothers Knut and Gunnar stood with him on the square. Because of his move to Italy, he was no longer allowed to play for the national team as a professional player from 1949 and thus only made 15 international appearances.

Coaching career

After the end of his active career, Nordahl moved to the coaching bench. He was in charge of Örebro SK and IK Brage , among others .
