Degerfors is a Swedish town ( tätort ) in eastern Värmland . It is the capital of the municipality of the same name .
Industry
Degerfors owns an ironworks that had to contend with competition from the Far East. It is now - owned by the Finnish group Outokumpu - successful as a highly specialized plant. Like many smaller towns in Sweden, the place has to contend with high unemployment (around 10%). The population has declined relatively sharply (258 people from 2005 to 2010; since then it has stabilized).
leisure
The place has a soccer club, Degerfors IF , where Ralf Edström and Gunnar Nordahl started their careers. The team has been playing in the second-rate Swedish Superettan since their recovery in 2010 . Sweden's only football museum is located in Degerfors.
