Anna Ulrika Karlsson (born October 14, 1970 in Österfärnebo ) is a former Swedish football player .

Career

Karlsson started playing football at Österfärnebo IF . The goalkeeper later played for Strömsbro / Sätra IF before moving to Bälinge IF in 1995. The greatest success with the club was reaching the cup final in 1996, which was lost 2-1 to Älvsjö AIK . After a detour to San Diego Spirit , where she was only used once , she moved back to Sweden to Umeå IK in 2002 and was able to triumph with the club twice in the UEFA Women's Cup , the Swedish Championship and the Swedish Cup until 2005 .

On October 15, 1995 Karlsson made his debut against Romania in the goal of the Swedish national team . At the 1996 Olympic Games , she was a substitute goalkeeper in the selection team and was used once. The following year she established herself as the number 1 goal of the national team and stood between the posts at the 1997 European Championships . She was voted the tournament's best goalkeeper and in the same year received the Diamond Ball for Sweden's Football Player of the Year. In February 1999 she played on the occasion of the group draw for the 1999 World Cup with a FIFA world selection against the United States women's national soccer team , where she was substituted on for Chinese goalkeeper Gao Hong in the second half . The game is not counted as an official international match. She was also the first goalkeeper for the Swedes at the 1999 World Cup . By 2001 she played a total of 46 international matches.
