Erik Nilsson
Erik Henry Sixten Nilsson (born August 6, 1916 in Malmö-Limhamn , † September 9, 1995 in Höllviken , municipality of Vellinge ) was a Swedish football player .
Career
Nilsson played in his youth at Limhamns IF before moving to Malmö FF in 1934 in the Allsvenskan . Here he played until 1953. During this time he was five times Swedish champion and cup winner. He turned down an offer from AC Milan .
Nilsson was also on the field 57 times for the Swedish national team . The defender took part in several tournaments for the Blågult . At the World Cup in 1938 he was fourth with the selection. At the Olympic Games in 1948 he celebrated his greatest international triumph when he won the Olympic Games in the final with a 3-1 win over Yugoslavia . Two years later he reached third place with the national team at the 1950 World Cup . At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , the bronze medal was won again when the German selection was defeated 2-0 in the game for third place.
In 1950 he was awarded the Guldbollen as the best Swedish footballer of the year, and in 2003 he was inducted into the SFS Hall Of Fame .
