Alexandre "Alex" Lacazette (born May 28, 1991 in Lyon ) is a French football player . The striker is under contract with Arsenal and plays for the French national team .

Career

youth

His parents come from the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe and settled in Lyon. At the age of seven, Lacazette began playing football and initially played for the club Elan Sportif in the 8th arrondissement . From 2003 he was trained in the youth department of the Club Olympique Lyon and went through the youth teams.

His cousin Romuald Lacazette is also a professional footballer. The midfielder played for TSV 1860 Munich and SV Darmstadt 98 and is currently without a club.

From 2008 to 2010 Lacazette played for the reserve team in the Championnat de France Amateur and scored 17 goals in 41 league games. Because of his achievements, he was appointed to the professional squad by coach Claude Puel and made his Ligue 1 debut on May 5, 2010 in a 2-1 win against AJ Auxerre . In the 2011/12 season he won the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions with the club , in the 2014/15 season he was the top scorer in Ligue 1 and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League in the 2016/17 season . He played a total of 275 competitive games and scored 129 goals for Olympique Lyon.

After 14 years, he left his youth club in the summer of 2017 and joined Arsenal FC . On May 3, 2019, Lacazette was voted Player of the 2018/19 season by club supporters .

National team

Lacazette went through from the U18 to all youth teams of the French football association . With the U19 he became the U19 European champion in his own country in 2010 . In 2011 he finished fourth with the U20s at the World Cup in Colombia . From 2011 to 2013 he was used for the U21s .

On June 5, 2013 Lacazette made his debut in the 0-1 defeat in the friendly against Uruguay in the senior team when he came on in the 58th minute for Yoann Gourcuff . Just four days later, he made his second appearance in another friendly against Brazil , which was lost 3-0.
