Coly is a former French commune with 212 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belonged to the arrondissement of Sarlat-la-Canéda and to the canton Terrasson-Lavilledieu, which had existed since 2015 .

The decree of 25 September 2018 establishes the incorporation of Coly as Commune déléguée together with the former municipality of Saint-Amand-de-Coly into the Commune nouvelle Coly-Saint-Amand with effect from January 1, 2019 .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of 315 in the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, a phase of stagnation set in, with the number of residents falling to around 160 after a short recovery period by the 1940s and 1960s before a phase of moderate growth set in until the turn of the millennium, when the size rose to 230 inhabitants before another phase of stagnation began.
