Marsas is a French commune with 1,204 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Blaye and is part of the canton of Le Nord-Gironde (until 2015: canton of Saint-Savin ). The inhabitants are called Marsacais .

geography

Marsas is about 30 kilometers north-northeast of Bordeaux . The river Virvée has its source in the municipality. Marsas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cézac in the north and northwest, Cavignac in the north and northeast, Laruscade in the northeast, Marcenais in the east, Salignac in the south, Gauriaguet in the southwest and Cubnezais in the west.

Route nationale 10 runs along the western edge of the municipality .
