Saint-Mariens is located about 34 kilometers north-northeast of Bordeaux . The Saye River limits the community to the east. Saint-Mariens is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Yzan-de-Soudiac in the north, Laruscade in the east, Cavignac in the south and south-east, Cézac in the south and south-west, Civrac-de-Blaye in the west and south-west and Saint-Savin in the north-west.

The municipality's train station is on the Paris – Bordeaux and Chartres – Bordeaux lines .
