Samonac is a town in southwestern France and a municipality with 426 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the north of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Blaye and the canton L'Estuaire (until 2015: canton Bourg ). The inhabitants are called Samonacais .

Samonac is located in the historical province of Angoumois in the cultural landscape of the Charente and at the same time in the vineyards of the Côtes de Bourg wine-growing region . Samonac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Trojan in the north, Mombrier in the east and northeast, Lansac in the east and southeast, Bourg in the south and southeast, Saint-Seurin-de-Bourg in the south, Bayon-sur-Gironde in the southwest, Comps in the West and Saint-Ciers-de-Canesse to the west and north-west.
