The Football League Third Division 1937/38football league . The division, which is divided into the north and south, had the Tranmere Rovers and FC Millwall both of their champions and at the same time promoted to the Football League Second Division . The two in the table below ranked second division FC Barnsley and Stockport County took two places in the Third Division North in the following third division season 1938/39. Only the southern club FC Gillingham had to relegate from both third division seasons , because both the lower-placed northern clubs AFC Barrow and Accrington Stanley and, in the south, Walsall FC received enough votes in the re-election process of the league association to be again in the following season 1938/39 to participate in the Third Division. In addition to the only climber Ipswich Town , Port Vale was regrouped from north to south to ensure the same number of participants.
