The AFC New Brighton (officially: New Brighton Association Football Club ) was a football club from the North West of England on the Irish Sea in the south of Liverpool located village of New Brighton .

Historic Brighton FC

The FC Brighton (officially: "Brighton Football Club") emerged in 1921 from the football club South Liverpool and took over its starting place in the Lancashire Combination League . As early as 1923, the club was included in the third division of the Football League .

The club also called Rakers or Towers reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in 1927/28 , but was eliminated against Port Vale . In 1937/38 there was another push into the quarter-finals, but this time Tottenham Hotspur was too high a hurdle. In the 1939/40 war season, he reached the semi-finals of the Wales Cup .

1951 New Brighton retired from the bottom of the table from the Football League, and was again a member of the Lancashire Combination League. A great success was in the 1956/57 season the third entry into the quarter-finals of the English cup competition. After the team knocked out three Football League clubs, including the renowned but at the time third-rate club Derby County , this time it failed at Burnley FC , which was to become English champions for the second time in 1960.

1959 New Brighton was champion of the Lancashire Combination League and could reach a runner-up and a third place in the same period.

In 1965 New Brighton joined the Cheshire County League . In 1979 the club was relegated to the second division of the league. In 1981 he left the league as bottom of the table and was dissolved.

After the 2018/19 season, the club still occupies 102nd place (out of 138) in the all-time table of English professional football.
