Aleksandras Vasiliauskas

Aleksandras Vasiliauskas (born January 25, 1940 in Žvirgždžiai , Telšiai district ; † September 12, 2016 ) was a Lithuanian mathematician, professor and politician . He was the Minister of Economy of Lithuania .

Life

After graduating from the Pavandenė Middle School in 1958 , Vasiliauskas graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at Vilnius University from 1958 to 1965 . In 1978 he received his doctorate in economics as a candidate for science.

From 1965 to 1966 Vasiliauskas worked as a research assistant at the Institute of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and from 1966 to 1969 at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Lithuanian SSR in Vilnius . From 1980 to 1993 he was a professor at the Vilniaus valstybinis universitetas . From 1993 to 1994 he was advisor to the Lithuanian President Algirdas Brazauskas and from 1994 to 1995 Lithuanian Minister of Economic Affairs in the Šleževičius cabinet . From 2001 Vasiliauskas taught as a professor at the Technical University in Kaunas .
