Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania (lit. Lietuvos Respublikos žemės ūkio ministerija ) is one of 14 ministries of the Government of Lithuania . It is based in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius .
history
The Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture was established in 1918 with the independence of the First Republic. In Soviet Lithuania the ministry was moved to Dotnuva and Baisogala . Since the daily journey of the employees took a few hours, the seat became Vilnius again.
In 1998 the Ministry of Forestry was integrated into the Ministry of Agriculture.
In 2016, the relocation of the headquarters was planned. The Ministry is planning to move to Kaunas from 2019 to 2020 .
