Giedrius Surplys

Giedrius Surplys (born May 26, 1980 in Plungė ) is a Lithuanian civil servant and politician , Minister of Agriculture of Lithuania from 2018 to 2019 , former Vice Minister of the Interior (2017-2018).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1998, Giedrius Surplys completed a bachelor's degree in political science from 1998 to 2002 , a master's degree in European studies at the Vilniaus universitetas in Vilnius from 2002–2004 and an international degree in diplomacy at the University of Birmingham from 2003–2004 .

2005–2008 Surplys taught at the Generolo Jono Žemaičio Lietuvos karo akademija . In 2009 he was advisor to the Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania . 2009–2012 he was director of the “Morkus” institution. From 2012-2015 he worked as a consultant in the office of the President of Lithuania . From 2017 to 2018 he was Deputy Minister , Deputy Minister of the Interior Eimutis Misiūnas in the Skvernelis cabinet . Dalia Grybauskaitė appointed him Minister of Agriculture (in place of Bronius Markauskas ).

He is a member of the Lietuvos valstiečių ir žaliųjų sąjunga .

Giedrius Surplys speaks English and Russian.
