Žygimantas Vaičiūnas (born January 19, 1982 in Šakiai ) is a Lithuanian politician, energy minister of Lithuania and former vice minister .

Life

After graduating from the “Varpo” middle school in Šakiai, Vaičiūnas completed a bachelor's degree in political science from 2000 to 2004 and a master's degree in European studies at the Vilniaus universitetas from 2004 to 2006 . From 2004 to 2005 he worked as an analyst at Vilnius Region Development Agency and from June 2005 to 2009 at the Center for Strategic Studies . From 2011 Vaičiūnas was Deputy Minister in the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy , Deputy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas in the Cabinet of Kubilius II . From 2014 he worked in the Lithuanian EU representation and was an energy attaché . He has been Minister of Energy in the Skvernelis cabinet since December 13, 2016 . From December 2018 to April 2019 he was also acting Minister of the Environment and headed the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania .
