Rokas Masiulis

Rokas Masiulis (born August 6, 1969 ) is a Lithuanian manager, auditor and politician . From December 2016 to August 2019 he was Lithuania's Minister of Transport . From 2014 to 2016 he was Lithuania's Minister of Energy .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in 1989, Masiulis completed a degree in economics at the Faculty of Economics and Production Management in 1994 and a master's degree at the Institute for International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University from 1992 to 1994 .

From 1994 to 1996 Masiulis was assistant and then until 1999 chief auditor at Arthur Andersen , from 1999 to 2007 chief auditor at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young , then until 2009 director at IS Partners UAB. From 2009 to 2010 he was a board member, business development director and finance director and 2010 administrative director at LEO LT AB.

From September 2010 to 2014 he was a board member and general manager of Klaipėdos nafta AB. He was vice-president and council member of the association Lietuvos jūrų krovos kompanijų asociacija and from 2012 to November 2013 member of the board of directors of LITGAS UAB, until September 2013 also general director. Masiulis holds 100% of the shares of IS Partners. From 2011 to 2012 he was a board member and 2012 chairman of the board of Baltpool UAB.

He was vice-president of the Lithuanian Chamber of Auditors.

Masiulis speaks English and Russian, reads Polish and has basic knowledge of Chinese.

From September 25, 2014 to December 13, 2016, Rokas Masiulis was Lithuania's energy minister in the Butkevičius cabinet . He was proposed as a candidate by Loreta Graužinienė , chairwoman of the Darbo partija (DP). The Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė appointed Masiulis minister on the day of the proposal (September 22, 2014) without waiting for the DP Party Council meeting. From December 13, 2016 to August 7, 2019, Rokas Masiulis was Lithuania's Transport Minister in the Skvernelis cabinet .

family

His mother Janina Masiulienė was a lawyer , his father Tadas Masiulis a physicist and mathematician.

Rokas Masiulis is married and has one child (* 2014). Masiulis lived with his family in Giruliai .

His twin brother, Petras Masiulis, is the director of UAB Tele2 , one of the largest telecommunications companies in Lithuania.
