Giruliai (dt. Forestry ) is a district of the port city of Klaipėda in Lithuania , seven kilometers north of the city center, on the Baltic Sea . There are children's and youth camps, the Klaipėda radio and television tower and a botanical-zoological reserve. There is a train station.

history

In the 19th century it was a health resort. In 1946 Giruliai and Melnragė became part of the city of Klaipėda. From 1947 to 1975 it was an urban-type settlement ( miesto tipo gyvenvietė ) in Klaipėda. In 1959 there were 611 inhabitants and in 1970 there were 719 inhabitants.
