Tomas Žilinskas

Tomas Žilinskas (born June 27, 1977 ) is a Lithuanian civil servant and politician , former Minister of the Interior of Lithuania (2016).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1995 at the 39th Middle School in Naujininkai , Žilinskas graduated from the Vilnius Police High School from 1995 to 1997 , from 1997 to 2002 a bachelor's degree in history at Vilniaus universitetas and from 2011 to 2013 a master’s degree ( law and administration ) at the Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius .

From 1996 to 1997 he worked as a police officer in the traffic police in the airport police -kommissariat and from 1997 to 2001 as a staff inspector and senior inspector of the personnel department. From 2001 to 2003, Žilinskas was an officer in the Police Department at the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania as an inspector, chief inspector and commissioner-inspector. From 2003 to 2006 he worked in the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania . From 2006 to 2009 he was a judicial attaché at the Lithuanian EU representation. In November 2009, he advised the Lithuanian General Police Commissioner for two weeks. From 2009 to 2016 he was Director of the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of the Interior. From April 14, 2016 to December 13, 2016 he was the Minister of the Interior of Lithuania in the Butkevičius cabinet . He was appointed by Dalia Grybauskaitė .

Žilinskas is married and has one daughter. Her baptismal father is Raimundas Palaitis (* 1957), former Lithuanian Minister of the Interior (2008–2012).
