Liana Ruokytė Jonsson (born May 10, 1966 in Klaipėda ) is a Lithuanian cultural diplomat and former politician , from 2016 to 2018 Minister of Culture .

Life

After graduating from secondary school, Liana Ruokytė completed her diploma studies from 1987 to 1992 as a director of events at the theater faculty of the Lietuvos muzikos akademija in Vilnius . In 1994 she passed a state examination for Swedish language at the University of Stockholm and from 1995 to 1997 studied acting and theater directing in Berlin , Rome and Stockholm with Jurij Alschitz . In 2010 she passed an exam for Danish language in Copenhagen .

From 1992 to 1999 she worked in the Lithuanian embassy in Sweden and from 1999 to 2008 cultural attaché . From 2012 to 2016 Liana Ruokytė Jonsson headed a department at Lietuvos kino centras . From December 13, 2016 to December 7, 2018, she was the Minister of Culture of Lithuania in the Skvernelis cabinet . She resigned herself when Saulius Skvernelis submitted her candidacy for dismissal to the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė .
