Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Lithuania
The Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Lithuania ( Lithuanian Lietuvos Respublikos miškų ūkio ministerija ) was a ministry of the Government of Lithuania . As the Ministry of Forestry , it was responsible for forestry and forest policy in Lithuania ( 2 million hectares of forests ).
history
Until 1990 there was the Ministry of Forestry and Forest Industry of Soviet Lithuania ( Lithuanian Lietuvos TSR miškų ūkio ir miško pramonės ministerija ). It was subordinate to the Soviet Council of Ministers and the Soviet State Committee for Forest Management. December 1996 merged the Ministry of Forestry with the Ministry of Agriculture and became the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Lithuania ( Lithuanian Lietuvos Respublikos žemės ir miškų ūkio ministerija ). On May 6, 1998, it became the Ministry of Agriculture of Lithuania .
It was based in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius .
