Stephen Patrick Hunt (born August 1, 1981 in Port Laoise , Ireland ) is a former Irish football player . His brother Noel Hunt is also a professional footballer .

Career

Hunt played for Brentford FC from 2001 to 2005. From June 2005 to 2009 he played for Reading FC . When his contract expired, he signed with Hull City and another year later with Wolverhampton Wanderers . From 2013 to 2015 he played for Ipswich Town in the Football League Championship . In 2016 he played for half a year at Coventry City before he announced his retirement.

He became famous when he hit the Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Čech in the head in a Premier League match on October 14, 2006. Čech was out for several months with a fractured skull .

National team

On February 7, 2007 he made his debut for the Irish national team in the game against San Marino.
