The Keepmoat Stadium is a football stadium in the English city of Doncaster . It replaced Belle Vue as the venue where the Doncaster Rovers played from 1922 to 2006.
Stadion
The sports facility, which was completed in 2006, is used by the men's team of the Doncaster Rovers football club and their women's team, Doncaster Rovers Belles LFC . In addition, the rugby club Doncaster RLFC welcomes its opponents to the games here. The stadium has 15,231 seats that are fully covered. The construction cost was £ 32 million (approx. € 36.8 million ). Although the stadium is new, it does not have underfloor heating . The playing field consists of a natural turf that is interwoven with artificial turf fibers to increase the durability of the playing surface.
The first sporting event was a game between the rugby team of the Doncaster RLFC and the Sheffield Eagles on December 27, 2006. The official inauguration of the arena was celebrated on August 3, 2007 in front of 13,080 spectators with a game between the Doncaster Rovers and Manchester United (0-2). The facility bears the name of the English housing association Keepmoat , which secured the naming rights to the stadium. In June 2010, the stadium received an award in the Best Matchday Experience category at a trade fair in Dublin .
The attendance record dates from April 1, 2008 from the game in Football League One against Leeds United with 15,001 visitors.
Concerts and events
Several concerts and other events have already taken place in the stadium. In July 2007 Ronan Keating , Bryan Adams and McFly performed over two days. The British singer Elton John gave a concert in July of 2008. In September 2008 the final of the British American Football League at the Britbowl took place in Doncaster. Since mid-2009, the stadium's premises can be rented for private or commercial events such as company presentations, weddings or other celebrations.
