The Highbury Stadium is a football stadium in England Fleetwood , county Lancashire . The venue is home to the Fleetwood Town football club . From 2006 to 2014, Blackpool Reserves FC was also located in the stadium. The complex is located on Highbury Avenue , which gives it its name.

history

The opening and the first game in the stadium took place in September 1939, just before the outbreak of the Second World War . A second game came seven years later. After the war, the sports facility was also used as a speedway track for the Fleetwood Flyers team from 1948 to 1952 . From 2007 the facility underwent extensive renovation. This is how the Percy Ronson stand on the south side was created. When it was promoted to Conference North in 2008 , the stadium was expanded to include the Highbury Stand on the west and the Memorial Stand on the north side. There was also a new floodlight system and additional parking spaces.

The second construction phase focused on the construction of the new main grandstand. Work was scheduled to start in 2009, but was delayed by a year to May 2010. On April 16, 2011, the £ 4.5 million grandstand was inaugurated . The Parkside stand accommodates a total of 2,054 seats under its arched roof as well as changing rooms, seven boxes and a large room for hospitality.

The attendance record with 6,150 spectators was set up on November 13, 1965 in the 1st round of the FA Cup 1965/66 against AFC Rochdale .
