The Alexandra Stadium (also known as Gresty Road ) is a football stadium in Crewe , Cheshire . It is the home of the English football club Crewe Alexandra . The stadium was opened in 1898 and offers 10,066 seats.
history
Alexandra Stadium experienced the greatest crowds on January 30, 1960, when 20,000 spectators were present for the FA Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur . Until the beginning of the 1999/2000 season, the stadium consisted almost entirely of standing room and was then modernized for several million pounds. Between 2006 and 2009, an average of around 5,500 spectators attended Crewe Alexandra's home games. In 2007, the club sold the naming rights to a grandstand to a local company.
