Dieter Trunk (born March 22, 1959 in Bamberg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Dieter Trunk was in the first division squad of 1. FC Nürnberg from 1981 . After starting difficulties at the club , his coach Udo Klug denied him qualification for the Bundesliga and was loaned to SC Fortuna Köln in the 2nd Bundesliga during the winter break in 1981/82 . After the end of the season it should actually be sold. Since there was no interested party, he was initially only in the squad of the Nuremberg amateurs. On the 9th day of the match, however, he was used again in the Bundesliga and scored a goal as a “joker”. From then on he came to more frequent missions and finally became a regular player that Nuremberg had to sell for financial reasons after the relegation season 1983/84 .

The 1. FC Kaiserslautern secured the services of striker for the season 1984/85 . After three years there, he moved to the second division club SV Darmstadt 98 , where he played until autumn 1988 . In January 1989 Trunk went to Austria to the then second division SK VOEST Linz , where he stayed until 1990.

After the end of his career, he worked as a masseur and as a coach at the Thomas Kastenmaiers football school . From 2011 to 2013 he was the coach of his home club SC Reichmannsdorf. He is currently working for the Bavarian Football Association as an assistant trainer for national teams.
