Christopher Paul "Chris" Morgan (born November 9, 1977 in Barnsley ) is a former English football player. He last played at Sheffield United and has coached the reserve team there since 2012.

Career

Morgan began his professional football career in 1998 in his hometown with Barnsley FC . He played six seasons there, including one season in the Premier League before moving to Sheffield United in 2003.

Morgan was a combative central defender who was named Player of the Year by his team in his first season at Sheffield United and was later named captain. He made his last game in October 2010 before a knee injury forced him to quit. In the following season 2011/12 he was still registered as a player, but was no longer on due to the injury.

In July 2012, he announced his retirement as a player.
