Marcus Tudgay (born February 3, 1983 in Shoreham-by-Sea ) is an English football player.

Athletic career

Derby County

Marcus Tudgay made his professional debut for Derby County in August 2002 . His club was relegated from the 2001/02 Premier League last season and now started in the second-highest English division. Both under coach John Gregory , as well as under his successor George Burley , Tudgay came to his service times. He achieved his best personal result in 2004/05 with nine goals in 34 league games. In the course of the 2005/06 season he moved first on loan to Sheffield Wednesday to join the club from Sheffield a little later on a permanent basis .

Sheffield Wednesday

His new club was also active in the Football League Championship at this time . As a promoted team, his team took a place in the lower third of the table at the end of the season and thus secured relegation. The following season was even more positive for Wednesday, because at the end of the season the team ranked ninth in the table. The club established itself in the following two years in the English second division and Marcus Tudgay distinguished himself in the Football League Championship 2008/09 as the top scorer of his team. Also in the Football League Championship 2009/10 he achieved the best hit yield. This personal success was overshadowed, however, by relegation to the third-rate Football League One . Third from bottom, two points behind Crystal Palace , Tudgay entered the third division with his club. During the 2010/11 season, Tudgay decided to move to Nottingham Forest on loan .

Nottingham Forest

Tudgay benefited from a serious injury to his teammate Dexter Blackstock and immediately found himself in the regular formation. After three goals in four games, including two goals in a 5-2 home win in East Midlands- Derby against his ex-club Derby County, Tudgay signed a two-and-a-half year deal in Nottingham and finally turned his back on Sheffield Wednesday. By the end of the season in the Football League Championship 2010/11 , he scored seven goals in 22 league games. After he had been used consistently in the course of the 2011/12 season (34 league games / 5 goals), Tudgay found very little consideration at the beginning of the new season under coach Sean O'Driscoll . On November 14, 2012, he moved as a result on loan to league rivals Barnsley FC .

In February 2014, Tudgay, with no prospects for Forest, switched to Charlton Athletic on loan .
