Leopold Auspitz
Leopold Auspitz (born December 5, 1838 - † February 23, 1907 ) was an Austrian k.k. Major General and Writer . He also published under the synonym "Egon Berg" and "Conrad Kurz" .
biography
Leopold Auspitz was born as the son of the surgeon and surgeon Moritz Auspitz (1803–1880) in Mikulov in Moravia ; his older brother Heinrich Auspitz (1835–1886) was a well-known dermatologist . In 1840 the family moved to Vienna , where the father took a job at the Jewish hospital in Vienna in order to enable his sons to get a better education. Leopold served in the Austro-Hungarian infantry - regiment Freiherr von Hess No. 49 and participated in the campaigns of 1859, 1866 and 1878 in part.. He married Henriette Eggenberg (* around 1846, † 1895), with her he had two children:
- Christine Auspitz (born February 27, 1878 in Iglau (Jihlava) , † April 15, 1928 in Graz ), who was a literary historian and one of the first women to earn a doctorate in Austria.
- Walther Ernst von Auspitz (born October 30, 1888 in St. Pölten ; † January 19, 1974 in Vienna), who from 1920 took the name of his great-great-grandmother, a "Conrad von Heydendorff" (also: "Auspitz-Heydendorff") ), Austro-Hungarian officer and genealogist .
It is known that Leopold to the Roman Catholic faith converted .
