The Ninian Park was a football stadium in the Welsh city of Cardiff . It was demolished in 2009.

Until 2009, the stadium hosted the home games of the Welsh football club Cardiff City , which is currently playing in the English second division . Cardiff City has been playing in the new Cardiff City Stadium since July 22nd, 2009 .

The stadium, built in 1910, was named after Lord Ninian Crichton-Stuart , a son of John Patrick Crichton-Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute , and was located on a former landfill. The record crowd of 61,556 spectators was reached at the international game Wales against England on October 14, 1961. For Cardiff City games, the record is 57,893 fans in the game on April 22, 1953 against Arsenal .
