Africa's Footballer of the Year 2018
Africa's Footballer of the Year 2018 ( English CAF Best African Player of the Year ) was chosen on January 8, 2019 by the continental association CAF in the Senegalese capital Dakar . The Egyptian Mohamed Salah won the award for the second time in a row.
Voting mode
On November 30, 2018, the 34 candidates for election were announced. The members of the 18-strong CAF Technical and Development Committee awarded five, four, three, two and one point to what they considered the best footballers from the shortlist. Then the points were added. On December 14, 2018, a shortlist of ten candidates was published on the basis of this vote . The national coaches and the captains of the national teams of all 56 CAF regional associations were allowed to vote according to the same system , as well as 16 African media experts and club coaches as well as ten football “legends”.
