The Río Jama is an approximately 110 km long river in the province of Manabí in the northwestern coastal region of Ecuador .

River course

The Río Jama rises in the Cordillera Chongón-Colonche 40 km inland from the Pacific coast. It initially flows 40 km in a predominantly south-westerly direction. Eloy Alfaro is located at river km 70 . There the Río Yescas flows into the river from the left. The Río Jama then turns to the northwest. At river kilometer 15 the Río Mariano meets the Río Jama when coming from the south. The trunk road E15 (Troncal del Pacífico) crosses the Río Jama at river kilometer 10. 500 m downstream there is a weir on the Río Jama. The small town of Jama is on the right bank of the river . The Río Jama finally flows northwest of Jama into the Pacific Ocean . The Río Jama has numerous river bends along its entire course .

Hydrology

The Río Jama drains an area of ​​2095 km². The average annual precipitation in the catchment area is 821 mm.
