Nasr City

Nasr City ( Arabic مدينة نصر, DMG Madīnat Naṣr ) is a district of Cairo . It is located in the eastern part of the city. Nasr City was created in the 1960s as an extension to the neighboring Heliopolis district . The then President Gamal Abdel Nasser was personally involved in the project and chose the name of the district Nasr (German: Sieg).

With 250 square kilometers, Nasr City is the largest area in Cairo and is divided into 10 sub-districts. The Cairo International Stadium is located in Nasr City .

Nasr City is considered the stronghold of the Muslim Brotherhood .
