The Port Said Stadium ( Arabic ستاد بورسعيد) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Egyptian city ​​of Port Said . The facility offers 22,000 seats and is mainly used for soccer games. It served as a venue for the Africa Cup in 2006 and was the venue for several games at the U-20 World Cup in 2009 . The stadium was built in 1954 and renovated in 2009 in preparation for the U-20 World Cup. The Port Said Stadium is slated to host the 2019 African Cup of Nations . The venue is about 10 kilometers from the regional airport and about one kilometer from the city center of Port Said.

On February 1, 2012, after a first division game between al-Masry and al Ahly SC, there were heavy crowd riots when spectators stormed the pitch after the final whistle. At least 74 people were killed and more than 1,000 are said to have been injured.
