Giovani Lo Celso (born April 9, 1996 in Rosario , Santa Fe ) is an Argentine football player . The attacking midfielder is under contract with Tottenham Hotspur .
Career
societies
Lo Celso went through all of Rosario Central's youth departments . On July 15, 2015, he made his debut in the Argentine Primera División in a 0-0 draw against CA Vélez Sársfield .
At the end of July 2016, Lo Celso was signed by Paris Saint-Germain and given a five-year contract dated June 30, 2021. However, he played the 2016 season on loan at Rosario Central until the end of the year. Lo Celso finally joined the Paris Saint-Germain squad on January 1, 2017. By the end of the 2017/18 season Lo Celso made 4 league appearances (one in the starting XI) under head coach Unai Emery . At the end of the season he won the national cup and the league cup with the team . In July 2017, he and the team won the French Supercup . In the 2017/18 season he was increasingly used under Emery. Of his 33 league appearances in which he scored 4 goals, he was only in the starting line-up in 18. This season PSG won the championship and again the cup and league cup. In August 2018, he won the French Supercup for the second time.
On August 31, 2018 Lo Celso moved to the Spanish Primera División to Betis Sevilla on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season , which also secured a purchase option for the midfielder. After 27 league appearances in which he scored 8 goals, Betis Sevilla withdrew the option to buy in mid-April 2019 and provided him with a contract that runs until June 30, 2023. Overall, Lo Celso came in his first season at Betis on 32 league appearances, in which he scored 9 goals.
Shortly before the start of the 2019/20 season, Lo Celso moved to Tottenham Hotspur for a year on loan in the Premier League . After 14 league appearances under his compatriot Mauricio Pochettino and his successor José Mourinho , the club acquired the transfer rights to Lo Celso at the end of January, who signed a new contract with a term until June 30, 2025.

2016 Olympic Games in Brazil
Lo Celso was appointed to the Argentine squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . On August 4, 2016, Lo Celso made his debut with Argentina U23 in the 2-0 loss to Portugal when he came on for Cristian Espinoza in the 72nd minute. There he was used in all three group games of his team, which finished the team behind Portugal and Honduras in third place and was eliminated.

On November 11, 2017 Lo Celso made his debut with the national team of Argentina in a 1-0 win against Russia in the starting line-up. In May 2018, he was called up for Argentina’s qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and made it to the tournament's squad.
Lo Celso played at the 2019 Copa América in Brazil . In the quarter-finals he scored the second goal for Argentina in a 2-0 win over Venezuela on June 28th and reached the semi-finals, which were lost to Brazil. In the game for third place, Lo Celso won with Argentina against defending champions Chile 2-1 and provided the assist for the second goal by Paulo Dybala .
