society

Clarke is a product of the youth academy of the northern English second division club Leeds United and caught the attention of the scouts of Premier League clubs early on . After the interest of heavyweight Manchester City became known, signed his first professional contract with the Whites on November 24, 2017 . In the summer preparation for the 2018/19 season was already part of the squad of the first team at test matches in Myanmar . He finally made his competitive debut on October 6, 2018 in a 1-1 draw in the league game against Brentford FC , in which he was substituted on by new head coach Marcelo Bielsa in the second half for Stuart Dallas . After a short time he established himself as a rotation player in Bielsa's team, which was fighting for promotion this season. On December 23, he scored his first goal for Leeds in a 3-2 win at Villa Park of rivals Aston Villas . With his connection goal to the interim 1: 2 in the 56th minute of the game, he initiated the successful comeback of his team. On New Year's Day 2019, he netted again in the 4-2 away defeat by Nottingham Forest . After staying in direct promotion positions for the entire season, they slipped to third place in the table due to four games without a win at the end of the season. However, this made it possible to participate in the promotion playoffs for the third promotion place. After two games, however, it was already in the semifinals against Derby County and Leeds remained in the championship. Clarke had come to 25 appearances across all competitions in his first season, in which he scored two goals and prepared two more. Due to his strong performance, he was named Young Player of the Season within the club.

On July 2, 2019, Clarke signed a four-year deal with first division club Tottenham Hotspur after the upcoming move had been announced in the media a week earlier. The North Londoners paid the 18-year-old a € 11 million transfer fee, making him the first signing since Lucas Moura in January 2018. As part of the transfer deal, he returned to Leeds United for the entire 2019/20 season. After he only made a brief league appearance at Leeds until the turn of the year, the Spurs called him back in January 2020.

On January 16, he joined the second division side Queens Park Rangers on loan for six months . He made his debut on January 18, 2020 in a 1-0 home win against his former employer Leeds United. There, too, he barely came on and was only substituted on six times.

National team

On September 5, 2019, he made his debut in a 0-0 draw against the Netherlands for the England U20 national team .
