Tanguy Ndombele Alvaro (born December 28, 1996 in Longjumeau ) is a French football player who has been under contract with the English first division club Tottenham Hotspur since July 2019 . The midfielder has been a French international since October 2018 .

Career

The son of Congolese (DR Congo) parents began playing football at the age of five. After playing in various junior clubs, he moved to EA Guingamp's youth team in 2011 . In 2014, he joined SC Amiens' B-team , for which he played two seasons before being promoted to the first team in 2016. For the second division Ndombele made his debut on September 9, 2016. In the game against FC Tours , he came in the final phase for the ailing Thomas Monconduit .

On August 31, 2017, Ndombele initially moved to Olympique Lyon for a year in a loan business . OL paid Amiens a loan fee of two million euros and secured an option for a fixed transfer of eight million euros. He played his first league game for Lyon on September 17, when he started in the 2-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain . He scored his first competitive goal for OL on February 15, 2018 in a 3-1 home win in the UEFA Europa League sixteenth-finals against Villarreal . For the season 2018/19 Olympique Lyon used his option to purchase.

In early July 2019, Ndombele signed a six-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur , which paid a transfer fee of 62 million euros. He made his Premier League debut on August 10, 2019 in a 3-1 home win against Aston Villa , in which he equalized on 1.1 after 73 minutes played. In this 2019/20 season , he made 21 league games in which he scored two goals.

National team

Ndombele made his debut for France's U21s on September 1, 2017 in the game against Kazakhstan . He made his senior national team debut on October 11, 2018 when he came on as a substitute for a friendly against Iceland .
