Bryne is a Norwegian town in Fylke Rogaland with a total of 12,202 inhabitants (as of 2019). It is the administrative seat of the municipality Time , but parts of the place are in the municipality of Klepp .

geography

Bryne is about 30 kilometers south of Stavanger . The urban area extends into the municipality of Klepp. At the end of 2019, 10,499 of the 12,202 residents lived in the Time community, the remaining 1,703 in Klepp. Bryne has been called "City" since 2001.

economy

The city's industry is dominated by the iron, metalware, and engineering industries. Among other things, agricultural machines and robots are produced there. Bryne is a transport hub in the Jæren region . The Sørlandsbanen runs through the city and its long-distance trains stop in Bryne.

Education and culture

In Bryne is the Garborgsenteret (Garborgszentrum), a museum that treats the work of the authors Arne Garborg and his wife Hulda . In 1906 a dairy school was founded in Bryne, followed in 1924 by the Rogaland Landsgymnas , which today exists under the name Bryne vidaregåande skule . With around 1,500 students, it is one of the largest secondary schools in Norway.

Sports

The Bryne FK football club , which last played in the highest Norwegian league in 2003, is based in Bryne . The club's venue is Bryne Stadium .
