Jæren is a coastal landscape in the southwest of Norway . It is located south of the Boknafjord and northwest of the country Dalane in the province ( Fylke ) Rogaland . The area of ​​the landscape is 1,070 km².

Jæren is often divided into Nord-Jæren (north) and Sør-Jæren (south). The south consists of the municipalities Klepp (11), Time (23) and (7), in the northern part are the municipalities Randaberg (14), Stavanger (20), Sola (19) and Sandnes (16) and parts of the municipalities Bjerkreim (1) and Gjesdal (6).

Jæren is the largest flatland area and one of the most important agricultural areas in Norway. The approximately 65 km long coastline is essentially flat and has sandy beaches. In front of the westernmost point of the mainland, the headland Revtangen, the Jærens Rev stretches almost two nautical miles into the North Sea , a boulder and sand bank that for centuries had a reputation as a ship graveyard.
