Frode Johnsen (born March 17, 1974 in Skien ) is a former Norwegian national soccer player .

Career

societies

Johnsen began his club career in his hometown with Jugend Odds BK . There the striker rose to the first team in the 1993/94 season, but did not make his first appearance until matchday 1 of the 1999 season in a 2-1 away win against Viking Stavanger . In this game he also scored his first goal as a professional. In 2000 he moved to Rosenborg Trondheim and contributed significantly to winning the Norwegian championship with his 9 hits in his first season. He also scored on his UEFA Champions League debut on September 13, 2000 in a 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain . After becoming champions in every season with Trondheim except in 2005 and also top scorer in 2001 and 2004, Johnsen moved to Nagoya Grampus in Japan in 2006 . After another engagement in Japan, he returned to his hometown club Odds BK in 2011. There he was again top scorer of the Tippeligaen in the 2013 season at the age of 39 with 16 goals. At the end of the 2015 season, Johnsen ended his active career.

National team

Johnsen made his debut for the Norwegian national football team on August 16, 2000, when he was substituted on in the 3-1 defeat by Finland in the 71st minute for Steffen Iversen . He scored his first two goals in the national jersey in a 3-2 win in the friendly against South Croea . In October 2013, after more than six years of disregard, Johnsen returned to the national team for two games at the age of 39 and played his last international match on October 15, 2013 in a 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifier against Iceland . He didn't manage to qualify for a bigger tournament with Norway.
