Jürgen Bogs (born January 19, 1947 in Biesendahlshof ) is a German soccer coach who was particularly successful in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). He won ten national championship titles in a row with BFC Dynamo in the GDR Oberliga between 1979 and 1988, as well as the FDGB Cup twice in 1988 and 1989 , the national cup competition in GDR football .

Athletic career

Jürgen Bogs, who was last active as a defender at BSG Aufbau Schwedt in the third-class district league from 1960 to 1970, initially took over the youth department of the Berlin football club Dynamo after the end of his playing career . After training as a skilled chemical worker, he completed a sports teacher degree from 1966 to 1970 at the DHfK in Leipzig , which he completed with a diploma.

On July 1, 1977, Bogs was appointed coach in charge of the BFC Dynamo league team, having previously led the club's juniors to the GDR runner-up in 1974 and 1976. He coached the team until the end of the 1988/1989 season and from September 1990 to September 1993 and from December 1999 to November 2001. The club played until 1989 in the GDR Oberliga, the top division in the GDR and then in the Oberliga Northeast .

Other coaching stations after 1990 were 1. FC Schwedt , Kickers Emden and TSG Neustrelitz . From October 2009 to April 2010 he was the coach of the FC Schwedt 02 team , from October 2012 to June 2014 he was the coach of the first division club 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04 .

Jürgen Bogs led the BFC Dynamo from 1979 to 1988 in the GDR to ten national championship titles in a row, an achievement that has not been achieved by any other coach in European club football. In 1988 and 1989, the club also won the FDGB Cup , the national cup competition in GDR football, under his leadership , and in 1988 achieved the double of championship and cup victory. Added to this was the runner-up title in 1989, third place in 1978 and the four-time entry into the cup final in 1979, 1982, 1984 and 1985.

In European club competitions, the BFC Dynamo managed by Jürgen Bogs in the 1979/1980 and 1983/1984 seasons to make it into the quarter-finals of the European Champions Cup and thus into the round of the best eight European clubs.
